Why Settle for What You Know: The Secret Menu Advantage

Tuesday, July 30, 2019

"Where'd you get that?"

It's a question we've all asked, especially when looking at someone else's plate. Like when your carb-conscious friend showed up with a hamburger made with a lettuce bun. Or the coworker who always seems to snag something a little special from the sandwich place. Maybe it was the time your niece or nephew walked out of the coffee bar with a neon- purple drink you're pretty sure came with glitter.

Okay, maybe not so much the last one. But it's enough to make you look at your own hamburger / burrito / latte or whatever you were having and wonder if you were really enjoying it – or were just settling for what was on the menu.

Here's a suggestion: You don't always have to settle.

Unless it's for the best possible solution, of course. Listen close: we're going to let you in on a secret.

Finding the Right Advantage Means Knowing What to Ask For

Secret menus have become a reliable part of the food landscape. Do a search for the phrase, and you're rewarded with a veritable insider's feast of off-the-menu delights in every conceivable category. All a hungry customer needs to do is learn what to ask for.

Why? People don't like to settle, especially when they see the whole picture.

Everybody wants to be an insider. Knowing a little something-something isn't just fun, it can be a serious advantage in the right crowd. Especially if you know something a little bit more worthwhile than an egg whites only breakfast burrito.

Here's an example. Let's say there's a friendly, comprehensive payroll industry conglomerate.

Their family of companies offer great ACH payroll processing, expert tax processing, an awesome time management platform, and a complete hire-to-retire workforce solution. Great services all, but is that it?

Maybe they have a secret menu of their own. It's not one they advertise necessarily, but it’s full of critical services that anybody in the payroll, staffing, and ASO/PEO industries would find highly useful.

Like advice on how to get the most out of a software platform. Help in getting out of a tight spot. Finding ideal buyers for people looking to sell their business. Or finding the perfect business to acquire for someone looking to enter growth mode.

None of this is on the main menu, understand, but those services are there. Provided someone knew what to ask for, of course.

Great Service Is No Secret

FBG Holdings is a conglomerate for one reason: service. By combining our strengths we're able to offer our clients an unprecedented range of tools so they can administer the entire payment process. But that strength is backed up by the FBG family's combined years of experience in our industry. It's allowed us to create a list – call it a secret menu, if you'd like – of services and solutions of intense interest to the payroll industry.

Because at the end of the day, there's always another way we can serve and help you achieve the success you work hard for. That's no secret.
